Pablo Palazuelo. Born in Madrid in 1915, Pablo was a painter, engraver, sculptor and key figure in Spanish art during the second half of the 20th century.
He began his training in architecture, but this was affected by the Spanish Civil War. Throughout his career, Pablo exhibited in prestigious galleries in France, the United States and Spain.
He specialised in paintings as well as engravings and sculptures, a discipline he began to develop from 1977 onwards.
He received the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts (1982), the National Prize for Plastic Arts ex aequo with Cristina Iglesias (1999) and the Velázquez Prize (2004).
As a tribute, from 15 February to 7 May, the Museo ICO is hosting an exhibition showing the artist’s entire career.
La Línea como sueño de arquitectura, an exhibition that, through a selection of works and projects, illustrates the intense relationship between architecture and artistic production.
The exhibition is divided into nine areas that travel from the formative stage to the designs of furniture for the domestic environment, a journey with an emphasis on labyrinths, transits, limits and stained glass windows.
A total of 12 works and 12 projects by the Spanish painter in which SIT Spain had the honour of taking part.
Many of the works on display, such as drawings, sketches, watercolours, models and sculptures, had remained unpublished until they were catalogued by the curators and shown to the public for the first time.
SIT Spain was in charge of the transport of the works, as well as the assembly of the works.
You can visit all the works free of charge from Tuesday to Saturday: 11.00 am to 8.00 pm. Sundays and public holidays: 10.00 to 14.00 h. until 7 May at the Museo ICO.
